Scaling natural capital markets requires institutional investment, but the conventional approach to early-stage due diligence creates a critical bottleneck. When a new deal comes across an investor's desk, the goal is often to find reasons to disqualify it quickly before spending money on deep diligence. Yet, teams often spend weeks cross-referencing disjointed maps, checking manual registries, and querying fragmented datasets just to compile a basic Investment Committee (IC) paper.
Our V1 pilot proved that satellite and geospatial data could identify these early red flags. However, feedback from our institutional partners—including Rebalance Earth and Great Yellow—highlighted a critical market need: investors don't just need more granular data; they need clearer signals.
Today, Treeconomy is launching Due Diligence Tool 2.0, a major upgrade that transitions nature due diligence from basic spatial screening to commercial decision intelligence.
Backed by the UK Space Agency's Unlocking Space for Business programme, V2.0 codifies the IC workflow. By aggregating over 60 high-quality regulatory and environmental datasets into a single assessment engine, the platform replaces the manual "data scavenger hunt" with instant, actionable insights.

Discover the Due Diligence Tool 2.0 Updates

V2.0 was rebuilt from the ground up to align with how asset managers actually work. We have shifted from a data-heavy, subcategory-driven report to a map-first, decision-oriented assessment.
Here are the industry-first features designed to cut your screening time from weeks to days:

1. The Executive Summary Split: Risk vs. Return

You can have a project with low ecological risk, but if it doesn’t generate a carbon return, it won’t be commercially viable. V1 conflated these metrics; V2.0 separates them clearly.
The newly redesigned Decision Dashboard provides an immediate, high-level summary of Total Estimated Carbon Yield alongside an overall Project Risk Score. This allows your team to assess whether a site is a "Go" or "No-Go" instantly, evaluating both the potential commercial upside and the primary risk drivers before diving into the details.

2. A Persistent, Interactive Map View

In V1, users had to look at multiple disconnected, static maps to understand different risks. V2.0 introduces a persistent, interactive map view that keeps spatial context visible at all times.
You can now toggle and overlay different constraint layers—such as Permissibility, Eligibility, and Suitability—directly onto the project boundary. This allows you to compare constraints spatially instead of reading them as disconnected checks, establishing a single "Digital Source of Truth" for the asset.

3. Decision Intelligence Tags & Weighted Scoring

Typical mapping tools show you a layer and leave you to figure out what it means, creating information overload and forcing your team to manually interpret complex data. DD Tool 2.0 interprets that raw data to provide commercial context.
Powered by a new underlying weighting system, the tool recognises that not all constraints have an equal impact on project viability. Through our automated Intelligence Tags, the system translates complex outputs into clear, decision-relevant insights. It flags specific layers, calculates the exact acreage affected, and explains the commercial implication—allowing you to assess regulatory blockers immediately without needing to be an expert in every aspect of land use.

4. Project-Specific Commercial Returns

To support early investment decisions, V2.0 generates project-specific carbon yield estimates calculated using the Woodland Carbon Code (WCC) calculator.
Applied directly to the eligible planting areas identified within your project boundary, these projections (including lifetime estimates and annual average sequestration curves) give your investment team a clear, data-backed understanding of the asset's potential return.

The Value for the Nature Finance Ecosystem

Whether you are deploying capital or securing it, Due Diligence Tool 2.0 provides the rigorous data required to accelerate transaction timelines:
For Asset Managers: Save days (or weeks) of painful desk research. Run a fast, credible commercial feasibility assessment to disqualify weak deals early, ensuring you only deploy capital and expensive ecological teams on high-probability assets.
For Project Developers: Secure financing and prove site eligibility. Substantiate your project design with an independent, data-backed report to pass Investment Committee reviews and accelerate early-stage funding.
