LONDON, UK – 15 April, 2026 – Treeconomy, the earthtech company building trust in nature-based markets, today announces the launch of its Due Diligence Tool 2.0. This major upgrade represents the commercial maturity of the technology, evolving from a feasibility screener into a robust, investment-grade assessment engine designed to accelerate the flow of capital into nature restoration.
The release is the outcome of "Project ALAN" (Accelerated Landscape Assessment for Nature Investments), a nine-month innovation grant-funded project awarded by the UK Space Agency’s Unlocking Space for Business programme.
From Data to Decisions: The V2.0 Evolution
While Treeconomy’s Version 1.0, piloted in 2025 with Octopus Investments proved that satellite data could identify early red flags, feedback from institutional partners highlighted a critical market need: investors didn't just need more data; they needed clearer signals.
Version 2.0 was co-designed through deep collaboration with a coalition of UK-focused natural capital investors, including Rebalance Earth and Great Yellow. The result is a tool that moves beyond granular raw data to offer "decision intelligence”, instantly separating ecological feasibility from commercial viability.
Harry Grocott, CEO and Co-founder at Treeconomy, commented:
"With V1, we proved we could see the risks. With V2, we’ve codified the Investment Committee workflow itself. We aren't just handing investors a map; we're giving them a decision engine that separates commercial return from ecological risk in seconds."
Lydia Green, Head of Unlocking Space Portfolio at the UK Space Agency, added:
"The UK Space Agency’s Unlocking Space for Business programme is supporting the Government's ambition to kickstart economic growth by lowering barriers to adopting satellite data, enabling tools like the Due Diligence Tool 2.0 to combine space data and AI to unlock investment-grade insights and accelerate institutional capital into nature restoration."
Key Capabilities of Due Diligence Tool 2.0
The upgraded tool is embedded within Treeconomy’s Sherwood platform and introduces industry-first features designed to reduce due diligence from weeks to days:
- Risk & Return Split: A redesigned dashboard that instantly separates Commercial Return (estimated Carbon Yields) from Project Risk (weighted Red/Amber/Green scoring).
- Project-Specific Carbon Projections: V2.0 generates carbon yield estimates and sequestration curves calculated using the Woodland Carbon Code (WCC) calculator, applied directly to the eligible planting areas identified within the project boundary.
- Intelligence Tags: Automated insights that translate complex raw data into decision-ready signals (e.g., assessing WCC eligibility or Ancient Woodland constraints).
- Audit-Ready Reporting: One-click generation of PDF reports designed specifically to support Investment Committee (IC) papers, reducing analyst workload from weeks to minutes.
Walid Al Saqqaf, CTO & Co-founder of Rebalance Earth, added:
"The natural capital market will not scale on manual due diligence. What Treeconomy has built here is not just a product for Rebalance Earth, it is a piece of infrastructure the entire sector needs. By consolidating fragmented environmental data into a standardised, audit-ready format, the tool does for nature investment screening what automated credit checks did for lending. It allows us to assess sites at a fraction of the cost, with greater transparency, and with the kind of referenced, repeatable outputs that institutional investors require before they will commit capital."
A Vision for the Future of Nature Finance
This launch is the first instalment of a broader vision. While today’s release optimises for Carbon and Risk, the platform architecture is built to expand into Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), Water, and Natural Flood Management (NFM) modules, positioning Treeconomy as the central data infrastructure for the nature markets.
The Due Diligence Tool 2.0 is available immediately for institutional investors and project developers.
