When Rob and I first set out to make Treeconomy a reality, we knew we would need the support of the green network and organisations such as Climate-KIC and the Imperial Enterprise Lab. Funding, guidance, and publicity from these bodies are crucial for businesses like ours – businesses on a mission to change the status quo and create a more sustainable world economy. Our mission is to rewrite the rules on offsetting. We’re using a new ‘offset-as-a-service’ business model which allows landowners to generate revenue and long-term income from planting and maintaining forests. Through this approach, combined with cutting-edge technology, we’re able to sell the highest quality carbon offsets to industry, governments, and all others targeting net-zero carbon emissions. Recognition and support for our goal are always greatly appreciated, so we are thrilled to have won the People’s Choice Award at the Venture Catalyst Challenge this year, announced last week. It’s our hope that this award will help us continue our push to grow and incentivise more landowners and businesses to adopt our carbon capture philosophy.
We need to make sure the offsets available deliver the climate impact we need as soon as possible. This is especially crucial when you consider how humanity is continuing to produce stunningly high amounts of CO2 every year; we have to increase tree-based carbon capture to compensate for the increased emissions.
Of course, emissions need to be reduced regardless; we understand offsetting and carbon capture are only part of the solution. But right now, it’s one of the best weapons we have in the fight against climate change, as long as we commit to high-quality offsetting that provides genuine, transparent, and scalable impact.
If you share our vision, please make sure you spread the word, follow us, and get in touch with us to find out more.
