As Nature Tech Week kicked off in London earlier this week, the conversation has rightly focused on one massive hurdle: how do we close the £44 billion nature funding gap. While the industry gathers to discuss the potential of new technologies, Treeconomy is proud to highlight the commercial reality.
We are excited to announce that our —originally established through the UK Space Agency-funded Project ALAN—has now transitioned into a significant commercial deal. This move marks a pivotal shift from co-development to the active deployment of high-integrity data across thousands of hectares.

The "ALAN" legacy: Building for investors, with investors

The partnership with Great Yellow served as an intensive stress test for our technology. By collaborating with their team, who connect an extensive portfolio of nature recovery projects with investors and outcome buyers, we have refined our tools to meet the specific “Investment Committee” workflows of institutional finance.
Great Yellow is now officially licensing Treeconomy’s Due Diligence (DD) Tool and our tiered biomass models to check eligibility across multiple standards including the Woodland Carbon Code (WCC) and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG).

The Due Diligence Tool: Investment-grade intelligence

To move capital at scale, natural capital organisations require speed and certainty. Our Due Diligence tool provides the essential infrastructure to move beyond manual feasibility screening toward professionalised nature investment:
  • The Decision Dashboard (Risk vs. Return): Instantly separates estimated carbon yields from project risk via a weighted scoring system. This allows teams to assess whether a site is a "Go" or "No-Go" in seconds.
  • Persistent, Interactive Map View: Maintains spatial context at all times, allowing users to toggle and overlay constraint layers—such as Permissibility and Eligibility—directly onto the project boundary.
  • Intelligence Tags & Weighted Scoring: Translates complex environmental indicators into clear commercial signals to highlight potential project constraints. The system flags specific layers, calculates the exact acreage affected, and explains the commercial implication.
  • Operational Efficiency: Reduces initial site screening costs by approximately 80%, moving decision timelines from months to days. This enables larger project pipelines without increasing overhead.
  • Audit-Ready Reporting: Generates standardised, transparent PDF reports designed specifically to support Investment Committee (IC) papers, reducing analyst workload from weeks to minutes.

The Biomass Engine: Solving the “greenness” problem

For assets to be bankable, “greenness” is no longer enough. Our Biomass Engine provides a tiered roadmap to validate carbon assets:
  • Multimodal Fusion: Solves the “Greenness” problem (where flawed satellite proxies saturate in high-biomass environments) by fusing satellite data with LiDAR and site-specific Deep Bayesian models.
  • Adaptive Sampling: Identifies high-variance zones, turning expensive field campaigns from blanket exercises into targeted, costs-effective investments.
  • Audit-Ready Digital Twins: Provides 10m resolution biomass density estimates with formal uncertainty quantification, creating a “living model” that evolves as new data accumulates.
  • Historical Benchmarking: Offers instantaneous access to 9 years historical time series data for robust baseline establishment.

Strategic insights from the front lines

This partnership represents a shared philosophy: that transparency is the only viable path to scale.
“We partnered with Great Yellow in 2025 to build new technology to track and meter the impact of landscape-scale nature restoration projects.
It’s massively validating of the technology we’ve built to be able to sign a contract like this with Great Yellow. They’re such a great partner, and we see a bright future working closely with them as a data and orchestration partner.”
Harry Grocott, CEO at Treeconomy
"The scale of the nature financing gap requires us to move faster without compromising on integrity. Licensing Treeconomy’s geospatial tools adds a vital orchestration layer to our work, bridging the gap between raw data and investment-ready decisions with a shared, defensible view of impact from day one. This commercial partnership is about building the trust necessary to accelerate the transition to resilient, healthy landscapes at scale."
Ed Dick, Co-founder and CEO at Great Yellow

Join the high-integrity ecosystem

With our tools we are building the institutional architecture for the regenerative economy. Our suite was co-developed with leading natural capital investors specifically to solve the "trust gap" that has historically slowed down large-scale deployment.
Whether you are a natural capital organisation seeking to deploy capital faster without compromising standards, or an established developer looking to substantiate your project design with independent, data-backed reports, Treeconomy provides the verifiable foundation you need to scale.
