Choosing the right green initiatives to support and join can be difficult. You need to consider:
- Will this actually deliver a positive climate impact?
- Is it transparent?
- Is there a better alternative?
- Is this a good use of our money and/or time?
- Can my/our organisation add genuine value to this initiative?
These are just a few of the questions that need to be asked and answered effectively before you sign on the dotted line. We at Treeconomy take this area very seriously; we’re wholeheartedly committed to joining forces with the right organisations and people who share our values and take the climate and ecological crisis as seriously as we do.
So far, we have joined with a few that we believe are worthwhile. Initiatives that are purpose-built to combat the crisis head-on, bring green-thinking organisations together for collaboration and deliver powerful climate impact.
So, to who have we pinned our tree-themed flag?
Below you’ll see the initiatives we’re proud to support; each one is hand-picked and ticks all the criteria we care about. As ever, let us know your thoughts and get in touch if you have any suggestions for others, or if you have any questions about our choices.
Business for Nature
This initiative is a global alliance of influential organisations and networks that are working with forward-thinking businesses to reverse the loss of nature around the world. The businesses involved in this ‘call to action’ are committed to reducing their environmental impacts whilst also hoping to influence key political decisions around nature in the future. Together with Nature
An inspiring group of supporters and signatories who have come to #TogetherWithNature to back four significant principles for nature-based solutions. These principles are:
- Cutting emissions
- Conserving and protecting existing ecosystems
- Being socially responsible
- Being ecologically responsible
We believe everyone and every company should commit to these four principles and keep them close to their heart. Holding ourselves accountable in these areas is crucial when it comes to protecting our plant, so that’s why we’ve joined in solidarity. For more information on the details of those four principles, visit their website at: https://www.togetherwithnature.com/
Leaders for Climate Action
This initiative, which aims to achieve a carbon-neutral future by pledging to reduce emissions and demanding fiercer measures from political and business leaders, already boasts an impressive 707 members globally (at the time of writing). Together, they’ve saved 128,339 tons of carbon by reduction or compensation. We’re proud to join this ever-growing community of leaders on their journey to drive a carbon-neutral future. World Economic Forum 1T Trees Challenge
This incredible project run by 1t.org looks to support the connection, empowerment, and mobilisation of a global reforestation community in the hope of conserving and restoring one trillion trees from 2021 to 2030. This would be a truly stunning feat by any standard. We’re incredibly proud to support this particular initiative and have pledged to contribute as much as possible to this one.
